The child joins the church in doing everything that the congregation are doing. He has being brought into the covenant-keeping people of God. He shall partake of whatever God said that congregation should eat. He joins in going to any place, where God said that the congregation should go to.

Giving his portion to him shows that the people of God have accepted him into their midst.
